Powder coating:
10 years against
– Peeling, powdering, and blistering.
– Corrosion except due to bending or folding after the application of the paint.
– Chalking, fading and loss of sheen out of the Qualicoat regulation.
– Filiform corrosion.
Hardware
1 year guarantee to all other standard hardware and fitted products.
Conditions and exclusions
1) In the unlikely event of the product failing because of defective materials or workmanship, Shire Window Solutions Limited will at its own expense repair or, at its sole discretion, either replace or refund the price of the product found to be defective.
2) Claims made under the terms of the above guarantees must be made in writing within the respective guarantee period and MUST state the date of purchase of the product found to be defective together with the Shire Window Solutions Limited order number.
3) Claims made under the terms of the above guarantees will only be accepted for products which are found on inspection by Shire Window Solutions Limited personnel and proven to be defective material or workmanship.
4) The above guarantees will be invalidated if the products are found to be incorrectly adjusted or operated that is not in accordance Shire Window Solutions instructions, whether given orally or in written form. In particular, the above guarantees will be invalid in respect of handles, hinges, locks, and bolts if these have not been inspected and lubricated at least twice yearly.
5) The above guarantees will be invalidated if the product is found to have failed due to accidents, abuse, vandalism, negligence or subject to stress through operating beyond recommended levels of performance.
6) The above guarantees will be invalidated if the total price of the product has not been paid for in full and inside the required due payment date.
7) Paint warranty invalid if the location is within 500 yards of the coast.
8) Damage caused by war, terrorist action or sabotage. Strikes, trade dispute, rebellion, civil disturbance, requisitioning, government, or other authority’s regulations. 9) Indirect loss or tort, delicate or otherwise, whether consequential or otherwise, howsoever caused.
10) Damage due to cleaning of corrosion of the materials caused by non-neutral chemicals.
11) Slowing down or delaying the repair or preventative repair due to testing or inspection.
12) The material coated is sited within direct influence of zones of salt water (within 500 metres of high tide line) acid or industrial or other aggressive emission sources which are known or believed to be damaging or corrosive to thermosetting powder coating.
13) The whole or partial replacement of the profiles or parts of it.
14) Damage due to one or more electric current due to the use of alloys or materials, which are not compatible with aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, etc.
15) Less than 5% of the exposed external surface is affected.
16) Failure to follow cleaning and maintenance guidelines.

Blinds in Glass Guarantee*
10 years on sealed units.
5 years on blinds.
Lanterns Guarantee*
Frames 10 years.
Frame colour 10 years.
Sealed units 10 years.
Glass coatings 10 years.
Opening vents/moving parts 1 year.
The Guarantee will be void if:
1) the defect arises because the Customer failed to follow Shire Window Solutions Limited oral or written instructions as to the use and maintenance of the Goods.

3) the Customer alters or repairs such Goods without the written consent of the Shire Window Solutions Limited.
4) the defect arises due to fair wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence, or abnormal storage or working conditions.
5) Wilful damage included modifying the lantern in any way, such as drilling into the frame to hang a plant or light fitting.
Glazing Guarantee*
Our units are guaranteed for different periods based on what they are installed in:
2 years on slimline units.
5 years on timber units.
10 years on UPVc units.
10 years on Aluminium units.
The Guarantee will be void if
Sealed units have not been maintained completely in accordance with Shire Window Solutions Limited recommendations provided either orally or in written form.
Liability: Shire Window Solutions Limited cannot be held liable for minor imperfections, such as bubbles, blisters, hairlines, blobs, fine scratches, or small pinpricks, which when viewed at 90 degrees in normal daylight and from 3 metres are not obvious. Shire Window Solutions Limited cannot be held liable for any units showing the optical phenomenon occasionally seen as interference colour bands, known as “Brewster’s fringes”.
Replacement sealed units
All replacement sealed units supplied will be on a “like for like” basis using standard components available at the time of replacement. Should it be necessary to source the replacement sealed glazed unit from a supplier who is not a sealed glazed unit manufacturer approved by Shire Window Solutions Limited, the Guarantee Period for that replacement sealed glazed unit shall only cover the time of delivery and no period thereafter.
Condensation
No Guarantee is given that the installation of double glazing will reduce the incidence of condensation to the interior or exterior of the sealed glazed unit.

How to do a professional check

Stand in the room no less than 2 metres away from the panes and look directly through them. For toughened, laminated, or coated glasses, stand no less than 3 metres away. Do so in natural daylight, but not in direct sunlight. Exclude from the check the 50mm wide band around the edge of the glass.
What to expect
Flat transparent glass, including laminated or toughened (tempered) glass is acceptable if the following are neither obtrusive nor bunched:
- bubbles or blisters,
- hairlines or blobs,
- fine scratches not more than 25mm long,
- minute particles.
The obtrusiveness of blemishes is judged by looking through the glass, not at it, under natural light.
Special glasses
Toughened glass may show visual distortions which are accentuated by reflections in double glazing. Such surface colourations and patterns do not indicate a change in physical performance. Laminated glass may have a few more blemishes due to it being made of several layers. Low emissivity coating may produce transient visual effects. In oblique lighting the coating may look like a transparent film. When light coloured objects such as net curtains are placed close to the glazing, they will look slightly darker.
Double reflection
This occurs in certain light conditions. It is caused by multiple surface reflections in double glazing which may vary from pane to pane.
Brewster’s Fringes
Small transitory rainbow effects are sometimes produced by the glass deflecting light. Their appearance is due to the high-quality flat glass sheets being place parallel to each other.
Patterned glass

Guarantee Commencement
Residential Contracts
Guarantee period commences on the day the installation is completed.
Trade Contracts
Guarantee period commencement date is dependent on each product installation completion date.
Guarantee Validation
Shire Window Solutions will not carry out any work under Guarantee if the Guarantee is not valid.
Guarantee will only become valid on receipt of payment of the full balance of the Contract
